Blues legend John Long has shared billings with BB King, Stephen Stills, Big Mama Thornton, The Mama's and the Papa's, John Hammond, Phoebe Snow, Paul Butterfield, Big Walter Horton and many others. John is one of the last living links, through both song and tale, to so many departed giants of the folk and blues music scenes.

The protégé of Homesick James, John played guitar in Big Walter Horton's band, and shared many shows with the likes of Muddy Waters, Terry & McGhee, plus a host of others. An engaging story teller and performer, John retains his uniquely deep resonant voice, and great chops on both guitar and harmonica.

Open mic (weather permitting) before John takes the stage around 3:30pm. Afterward likely an invitational pro jam, where some of the seasoned players in attendance may get the opportunity to share the stage with John.

There will be burgers, brats, salad, beverages... a suggested donation will be posted. Plenty of shade, + misting units if it's a hot day. The area will be lit for the pro jam and after party. Rain or shine, if it rains we'll scratch the jam sessions and gather inside for John's performance.

The native grass lawn around The Back Stage is maturing, year two of a 3 year process and getting quite green. If still in season there will be blackberries to pick, plus mint, thyme, chives, dill... all grown without pesticides, you're welcome to take home a bit of each.
